1st Kings 17
(v.6) We see God provide for Elijah like He did for Moses and the people of Israel in the Wilderness. We need to remember this when we think God has forgotten us...He will provide if we have faith!
(v.12) The woman was settled with the fact that she and her son would die. We don't know why she didn't get help from others, but in that culture, she may have been a prostitute at some point, and disgraced. She had no one to turn to, and here comes a prophet from God! I can think of some times in my life when God answers prayer by bringing someone into my life.
(v.21) Elijah prayed and laid his body on the boy three times. This is again symbolic for redemption, and it also shows us that we don't always hear God's answer the first few times. This teaches us to keep praying, and God will answer in His perfect timing!
